GyanSanchaar on DPIIT Startup Recognition and Education

What DPIIT Recognition Means for GyanSanchaar — and What the Startup Is Building

The Guwahati startup is using its recognition alongside a student-focused admissions platform built around free applications.

A government startup recognition is only one part of a company’s story. For GyanSanchaar, the more important question is what it is building with that foundation: a platform intended to make college applications easier for students, particularly across Northeast India.

GyanSanchaar is operated by Sanchaar EduTech Private Limited, which holds DPIIT recognition under the Startup India initiative under Certificate No. DIPP286385. The company is also registered as an MSME under the Udyam scheme, with registration number UDYAM-AS-03-0080400.

The platform addresses a familiar problem. According to AISHE 2023-24, India has 48,246 colleges, while more than 70% do not have a common application process. Students applying to several institutions therefore often have to repeat the same basic work across different websites and admission systems.

For families who need help navigating that process, local admission agents can become an alternative. The GyanSanchaar material notes that such assistance can cost around Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 50,000. The issue is particularly relevant in the Northeast, where large education platforms focused on metropolitan markets may not provide the same level of regional access.

The platform is built around a practical idea: simplify the administrative journey without taking the college choice away from the student. The student still chooses the institution, while the platform helps with the process of applying and following up.

GyanSanchaar’s model is built around removing the cost for the student. A student creates a free profile and can apply to listed colleges through the platform. The team supports the process over WhatsApp, coordinates with the institution and guides the student up to the admission interview.

The student’s admission payment goes directly to the college. GyanSanchaar earns through a fixed referral fee paid by a college after a referred student has been admitted and has paid their college fee. The platform does not charge students a subscription or a per-lead fee.

Its regional approach is another part of the model. The company is headquartered in Guwahati, covers all eight Northeastern states and supports nine Indian languages, including Assamese, Bengali and Nepali.

GyanSanchaar says two wider changes also make this kind of platform increasingly relevant: the push toward more flexible and multidisciplinary admissions under the National Education Policy 2020, and the wider availability of smartphone connectivity across the Northeast.

For the company, DPIIT recognition is therefore one milestone alongside the larger task of building a service that students can actually use. The platform is live at gyansanchaar.com.
