Gaurav’s journey began in the Merchant Navy, where he joined as a Deck Cadet in 2002 and steadily rose to the rank of Captain. In 2012, he achieved the milestone of commanding an oil tanker. However, the prolonged separations from his family began to strain his work-life balance. A friend introduced him to the oil and gas sector, which offered a career path with less time away from home compared to life at sea.

He observed that many peers succumbed to moments of doubt and regretfully gave up, but Gaurav chose a different path. Instead of letting difficulties overwhelm him, he focused on creating stability in his career and embracing the opportunities before him.
A key turning point was shifting his mindset. By appreciating what he had rather than dwelling on what was missing, he found greater satisfaction and growth. Letting go of negative thoughts, he immersed himself in positive actions like reading, writing, and self-development, while others often spent time on social media.
